Whew. It's been about two weeks since I got back from the whirlwind 14 day tour of America's Middle West with Shawna Virago and hot damn that was a good time. I must say I'm most proud of the fact that we left Kansas City, MO on a Sunday morning and were back in Oakland, CA by 7:30pm on Monday. And was even WITH getting a good night's sleep Sunday night in Evanston, UT. Other highlights include playing in the Great Salt Flats, experiencing an hour of petrichor while driving on the edge of a thunderstorm, the pagan biker lady gas station attendant in ... Utah? Colorado? well it was someplace between Reno and Cheyenne. I will say one of the coolest parts was meeting so many folks across the country. Friendly, open, ready to share stories and generosity. My favorite town of the trip was probably St Louis. The part of town we were in was full of activism, diversity, jazz, and good good food. Missouri had some of our most busy shows and it was great to hear what's happening there in terms of music and also just see so many people out and ready to have a good time. In seven days I hit the road again for a run through the Pacific Northwest and then up to Canada for the Accordion Noir festival, Farm Fest, Fig Tree Fest, and so much more with my road bestie Mz Carolyn Mark. Rumor has it I'll even have the full album band at a few shows! If that's your region - well come on over kittens! Full show listing at emchy.com/shows <3
